The members of the Lay Ministry program went on retreat to the Methodist Sacramento Assembly in New Mexico April 19-21, 2013. In order to attend the retreat members sold chocolate early in the year and paid a small fee. This was a work retreat in which the students painted some of the buildings, cleaned, built an electric toy car race track, helped to fix a water leak and created a trail up the side of a hill so that people could get from one area of the camp to another much more quickly. This was a student designed and student led retreat in which they worked hard, ate well, worshipped under the stars, participated in fun activities and learned what servant-leadership really means.
