A Message from The President

On behalf of the entire Lydia Patterson Institute community, I welcome you to our website. As you explore the site, and perhaps visit our campus sometime in the near future, you will find a unique place where students are immersed in an academic and spiritual environment.

For over 100 years, Lydia Patterson Institute or "La Lydia" as it is commonly know to its friends, has been dedicated to building bridges between two countries, two cities, and two cultures. As the only United Methodist institution on the border, it is committed to form bilingual and bicultural leaders for the church and society.

As president, I am enriched daily by the presence of the students and their unique hunger and determination for success. It is rewarding to see the transformation of the students from young children, many whom do not speak the English language when they arrive, to be fulfilled and successful bilingual college graduates with a profession.

We thank and credit the United Methodist Church and its many educational institutions that continue our ministry by providing opportunities to the Lydia Patterson graduates. It is through this partnership that we can proudly share with you that 95% of our graduating seniors attend a college or university.

I invite you to visit our campus and personally experience the welcoming atmosphere, observe its academic and spiritual excellence, share a meal with our students, and investigate the many opportunities in which you can be engaged and be a part of this wonderful institution.

Our gratitude goes out to the members of the United Methodist Church for this ministry on the border and their unconditional support. Through this miracle of education, lives are being changed daily at Lydia Patterson Institute.

Blessings,
Socorro Brito de Anda
